Using the dartboard theory on X
Generating growth on the platform formerly known as Twitter
There’s more than one approach you can take to building a following on X (Twitter). Here’s one thing to think about:
You can reply to posts on popular accounts and any impressions and traffic your drive to your profile are a great thing. This will help you grow and generate more ad revenue once you’re eligible for it.
But something else to keep in mind is that when you focus on replying to accounts that are relevant to your niche, you increase the chances the followers you gain will be people interested in your content.
You’ll likely convert more profile visitors to followers if you’re driving traffic from relevant accounts.
I’ve definitely generated a bunch of impressions trying to be funny with replies to some big accounts.
But, I’m also replying places where I can talk about marketing and attract potential followers who are going to be interested in 80–90% of what I post on this profile instead of just a joke I told.
I like to call this, aiming for the center of the dart board rather just trying to fill the board. You’re probably better off with five darts close to the center when it comes to your leads than you are with 15 or 20 of them…
