Career advice from a 20-year marketing professional
Some thoughts for others in the field
I’ve worked in marketing for over 20 years, at multiple levels, including associate, manager and director. I’ve started capturing some of my thoughts on things I’ve learned throughout my career.
One note before I go any further. These are just the thoughts of one person: me. Please keep that in mind.

A great way to learn the business and find your talents
Early in your career, it wouldn’t be a bad thing if you found yourself in a row where you were a marketing jack-of-all-trades, handling all sorts of roles within a team or working solo. This is one of those jobs where you might wish there were more staff and where you’ll be doing the amount of work that would normally be done by a larger team. It can be difficult. But, it’s a great way to learn how to make the most of scarce resources and to get an idea for all the different pieces of marketing, from digital advertising and social media to writing and project management.
